MINSK, 17 March (BelTA) – Around 25,500 candidates will be vying for the seats on the local councils of deputies of the 26th convocation, Lydia Yermoshina, chairperson of the central election commission of Belarus, told a press conference on 17 March.
Commenting on the nominations, Lydia Yermoshina said that 1.2 candidates will be contesting one seat in the local elections in Belarus. This is higher than in the elections in 1999, 2003 and 2007. 
MINSK, 16 March (BelTA) – Head of the Belarus President Administration Vladimir Makei held a meeting with Secretary General of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) Marc Perrin de Brichambaut on 15 March.
The sides discussed the development of cooperation between Belarus and the OSCE and the activities of the OSCE Office in Minsk.
In particular, Vladimir Makei noted that Belarus intends to continue the active cooperation with OSCE taking into account the equal approach to all areas of the OSCE activities. 
KIEV, 18 March (BelTA) – Gomel and Kiev will intensify the bilateral cooperation, BelTA learnt from the press service of the Kiev City Administration.
During a visit of a delegation of the Gomel Oblast to the Ukrainian capital, the leadership of the Gomel Oblast Executive Committee, the Gomel City Executive Committee, representatives of a number of the leading Gomel-based companies and the leadership of the Solomensky District State Administration of Kiev discussed the development of the interregional cooperation. 
GOMEL, 18 March (BelTA) – Belarusian Steel Works has contracted to deliver oil country tubular goods (OCTG) to Venezuela. The first batch of 5,600 tonnes will shipped by 15 May, the company’s information office told BelTA.
Venezuela will be the company’s second buyer on the American continent. In February the company shipped 2,000 tonnes of well casing pipes for the USA oil industry. The buyer, Tejas Casing Ltd, did not inspect the company as is the practice, expecting high quality from BMZ products.
